Police have charged a Thunder Bay woman with manslaughter as a result of an ongoing investigation into the June death of a 90-year-old man.
Paramedics with the Superior North Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a residential address on the city’s south side in the evening hours of May 20, 2023, following reports of an elderly man who had fallen.
The injured male was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment of their injuries.
The male was pronounced deceased on June 13, 2023. Their identity is not being released by police at this time.
A post-mortem conducted in Toronto afterwards determined the death was a result of complications from injuries sustained during the May incident.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit became involved in the ongoing investigation.
While it was originally reported that the male had fallen down some stairs, police learned of allegations that the male was pushed.
The investigation identified a female suspect identified, who was charged, and later taken into custody on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
The accused and victim were known to one another.
Mandy KAZOUN, 63, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Manslaughter
She appeared in bail court on Wednesday, Aug. 23 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
