One person is in custody as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a Tuesday afternoon shooting on the city’s southside.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were initially dispatched to the 200-block area of Amelia Street West following reports of multiple parties involved in an altercation involving a firearm.
Police learned multiple shots had been fired.
Members of the TBPS’s Intelligence Unit, Emergency Task Unit, Break and Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit, Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit, were also dispatched in response to this shooting. Additional support from the OPP is also assisting.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit are now involved in the ongoing investigation.
Police believe this was a targeted incident.
The male in custody is schedule to make a bail court appearance in Thunder Bay on Wednesday, May 3.
