Police have arrested the second suspect connected to a recent homicide investigation.
Johnna Louise SONEGO, 56, was located and arrested without incident by members of the Major Crimes Unit at a business on the city’s southside just after 12:30 p.m. today (Friday, June 30). She remains in custody and is expected to make her first court appearance on Saturday, July 1.
Police distributed a media release at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 30, identifying SONEGO as being wanted on charges of Second-Degree Murder. A member of the public spotted the accused and called 9-1-1, which led to the eventual arrest.
BACKGROUND/ INCIDENT DETAILS:
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were originally dispatched to a residential address in the 200 block of Mary Street East just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27.
When police arrived, they learned an adult female, who appeared to have sustained serious injuries consistent with a recent assault, had died.
A scene was established and members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Units are now involved in the ongoing investigation.
As a result of continued investigative efforts, police were able to identify a male suspect.
The accused was already in police custody for an unrelated matter. He was re-arrested and charged on Wednesday, June 28.
Cameron Gary-James ADOMKO, 41, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Second-Degree Murder
• Breach of Probation x 2
He appeared in bail court on Thursday, June 29 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
Continued investigation led investigators to identify SONEGO as a second suspect connected to this homicide.
