On Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at 11 p.m., Thunder Bay Police were dispatched to Waterloo Street just south of Cameron Street in regards to a motor vehicle collision. Initial officers onscene found that two vehicles had collided head-on. One of the drivers was trapped inside the vehicle requiring extrication by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue.
The Thunder Bay Police Traffic Unit was called to the scene. The initial investigation has revealed that a GMC Jimmy was south bound on Waterloo Street just south of Cameron Street. This vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a north bound Dodge Ram pickup truck in the center north bound lane.
The driver of the GMC Jimmy, a 27 year old Thunder Bay male, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 27 year old Thunder Bay female, also sustained injuries however not as serious in nature.
The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was gathered.
