Police arrested two people from the GTA Tuesday following an investigation into a suspected home takeover and drug-trafficking activity.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a residential address in the 100 block of Simpson Street just before noon on Tuesday, Feb. 9 following reports of possible drug-trafficking activity.

When police arrived, they entered the home and learned two GTA residents were inside and connected to suspected drug trafficking. Police located and seized cash believed to have been obtained via drug trafficking and a quantity of suspected fentanyl.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Avenue.

During the arrest, one suspect attempted to provide police with a false identity. Further investigation revealed the accused individual’s actual identity. Police also learned the accused was in violation of a court order to remain at an address in the GTA.

Juvonte HYLTON, 24, of Brampton, Ont., is charged with:
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking

Nelowfer WALIZADEH, 22, of Mississauga, Ont., is charged with:
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Obstruct Peace Officer
• Failure to Comply with a Judicial Release

Both appeared in bail court on Wednesday, Feb. 10 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
