Police arrested two people last week after they attempted to steal a donation bin and then ran off with a bystander's purse.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to a business on the 900 block of Arthur Street West on the afternoon of Friday, October 18, after receiving reports of a robbery.

Two male suspects had been observed attempting to steal a donation collection bin. They were confronted by a business staff member and stole her purse after an altercation. They proceeded to flee the scene.

Responding officers located the suspects a short distance away. They were both arrested and taken into custody.

Josiah Robert THOMAS, 31, and Jonah Kenny THOMAS, 29, are each charged with Robbery and two counts of Breach of Probation.

The accused appeared in court and have been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
