Two southern Ontario men face drug trafficking charges after being arrested at a Cumming Street home Friday evening.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to a residential address in the 200 block of Cumming Street just after 9:15 p.m. on Friday, April 21 to conduct a welfare check. Police learned a home takeover situation could be occurring at that address.
When officers arrived, they observed two male suspects attempting to flee from a window on the top floor of the home.
One of the suspects was taken into custody after he jumped from the second-floor roof. The second suspect remained on the roof for a period of time, but then retreated back into the home from the window and was subsequently arrested.
Police located and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
The suspects were transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
Devante Jamar COOPER, 24, of Toronto, is charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Failure to Comply with Release Order
• Obstruct Peace Officer
Payton Jon WALLACE, 20, of Brampton, Ont., is charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Both appeared in bail court on Saturday, April 22 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
