A Thunder Bay man faces charges of impaired driving after being stopped by police conducting a focused traffic blitz along Dawson Road Friday afternoon.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers and members of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation were conducting a focused traffic enforcement blitz along Dawson Road in the afternoon hours of Friday, Aug. 25, when they conducted a traffic stop of a motorist in a Jeep without numbered plates displayed.
When officers spoke to the driver, they observed several signs of impairment. Officers also observed open bottles of alcohol in the cab of the vehicle.
Officers took a sample of the driver’s breath with a roadside Approved Screening Device, which the driver failed. The male suspect was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the TBPS headquarters for further evaluation.
At the police headquarters, samples of the driver’s breath concluded his blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit.
A 22-year-old Thunder Bay man now faces charges of:
• Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
• Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
The accused was released with conditions and a future appearance date.
