A Thunder Bay man faces several charges related to child pornography following an investigation by the police’s Cyber Crime Unit.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Cyber Crime Unit were made aware on Monday, May 1, of a local Internet user who was suspected of uploading files consistent with child exploitation on social media.
Further investigation revealed the files in question were consistent with child pornography. Members of the Cyber Crime Unit were able to identify a local address linked and male suspect.
On Wednesday, May 10, police executed a search warrant, with assistance from members of the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit, at a residential address in the 500 block of Halton Street. Numerous electronic devices were seized as a result of that search.
The accused turned himself in to police in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 16.
William Joseph Daniel HUBBARD, 35, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Possession of Child Pornography
• Distribution of Child Pornography
• Accessing Child Pornography
He appeared in bail court on Tuesday, May 16 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
