A Thunder Bay man faces a charge of first-degree murder after being arrested Thursday in connection with an ongoing homicide investigation.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were originally dispatched to a residential address in the 300 block of Ogden Street at about 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, following reports that a deceased male was located.
Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crime and Forensic Identification Units became involved in the ongoing investigation. The investigation is being treated as a homicide.
A post-mortem of the victim took place in Toronto, and the scene has since been released. The victim has been identified as Abdullahi Mohamed ALI, 24, of Toronto.
As a result of continued investigation, police identified a male suspect.
He was located and arrested by members of the Break and Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit in the afternoon hours of Thursday, Oct. 19. He was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
Russel Brayden MOONIAS, 25, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• First-Degree Murder
He is expected to appear in court today.
