A teen arrested for assault Thursday evening faces additional charges after she attacked two officers while in police custody.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the Valhalla Inn at about 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 following reports of a person damaging property and attacking people.
When officers arrived, they learned a female teen had pushed her way into another person’s taxicab. She was led out of the cab, but refused to move away from the vehicle. At this point a security guard arrived to intervene.
The teen became irate and eventually attacked a security guard.
Officers located the suspect just before 10 p.m. and took her into custody. Before the arrest was complete, the suspect attacked officer.
The accused attacked a second officer while in custody.
A 17-year-old female from Fort Hope First Nation is charged with:
• Assault
• Assault a Peace Officer x 3
• Assault with a Weapon
Her identity is being withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
She is expected to appear in bail court in Thunder Bay today (Friday, July 21).
