A drug trafficking investigation has led to the arrest of one person and the seizure of a kilogram of suspected cocaine and a loaded firearm.

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service Intelligence Unit had started receiving information about suspected drug trafficking activity in April.

The ongoing investigation led to search warrants being obtained.

Members of the Intelligence Unit and Emergency Task Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Victoria Avenue East on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 30.

A male suspect was located within the residence and was arrested. A search of the residence led to the seizure of quantities of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, and oxycodone.

A second warrant was executed a short time later at an Albany Street residence. At that location, officers located a loaded firearm and quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, along with cash.

In total, police seized nearly one kilogram of cocaine, and about 200 grams each of crack cocaine and fentanyl. The estimated street value of the drugs is $200,000. The amount of cash seized is estimated to be about $10,000.

Alfred AMOA-YEBOAH, 29, is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2, Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5,000, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm, Careless Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order.
