A suspect linked to a 2022 homicide in Thunder Bay was located and arrested during an unrelated Intelligence Unit search of a James Street home Thursday morning.
Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Primary Response Branch were originally dispatched to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre just before 3 a.m. on June 1, 2022, following reports of a male who had been admitted with serious injuries.
The victim, who was identified later as Tyrese BELMORE, 19, of Sioux Lookout, died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Units became involved in the ongoing investigation into Belmore’s death.
That investigation led to two addresses -- one on Shipley Street and another on Brock Street East – being identified as associated to the ongoing homicide investigation.
Continued investigation led to a male suspect being identified.
That suspect was located and arrested during the execution of an unrelated search warrant by members of the TBPS’s Intelligence Unit in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 15.
He was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street without further incident.
Ocean Trinity AYODEJI, 22, of no fixed address, is charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Trafficking in Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine x 2
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
He appeared in bail court on Thursday, June 15, and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
He is expected to face an additional charge of Second-Degree Murder.
