Quick reactions by a pair of police officers reversed a suspected overdose after responding to an impaired driving incident.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the intersection of Brunswick Street North and Waterloo Street North shortly after 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3 after receiving reports of a motor vehicle collision.
The responding officers observed a vehicle that had collided with a parked vehicle. The vehicle was running and still in drive, with the male driver unresponsive and slumped over the wheel.
One of the officers removed the driver from the vehicle and performed successful life-saving measures.
The male was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre by paramedics with Superior North EMS for further medical treatment.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of paraphernalia consistent with drug use.
The 30-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle. He has been released from custody with a future court appearance date.
