Police are investigating a weekend altercation that resulted in a 24-year-old man sustaining critical injuries.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response branch were dispatched to an address on Valhalla Inn Road at about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, February 11 after emergency services had responded to a male requiring medical attention.
Superior North EMS paramedics transported the male to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries that are considered life threatening.
A male was located at the scene and identified as a suspect. He was arrested without incident and brought to the Balmoral Street station.
Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit are now involved in the investigation.
Andrei SAVU, 35, of Montreal, is charged with aggravated assault. He has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
