Two people face robbery and firearms charges.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the 700 block of John Street at about 7 p.m. on Monday, October 21, after receiving reports of individuals in possession of firearms.
Responding officers found that two male suspects had robbed and assaulted a victim before fleeing the scene.
The Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit became involved in the investigation.
The Break, Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit located the suspects in the area of Academy Drive. Members of the Emergency Task Unit responded to assist with making the arrests.
The two suspects attempted to flee and were arrested after a foot pursuit.
Police located a discarded backpack that contained a loaded firearm. A quantity of suspected cocaine, along with currency, was also found.
K’Shon CARTIE-GOLDING, 20, and Kahsiy NOTICE, 20, are charged with the following:
• Pointing a Firearm
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
• Robbery Using a Firearm
• Resisting a Peace Officer
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
NOTICE is also charged with Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Careless Use of a Firearm.
The accused appeared in court on Wednesday and have been remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
