An impaired driver who was involved in, and fled from, two collisions Friday morning was located by police at her home exiting the damaged SUV she was driving.
Police learned the accused was travelling in a SUV westbound on Arthur Street East in the late-morning hours of Friday, July 21, when they collided with a vehicle that was stopped for a red light. The accused then drove through a red light while fleeing the scene.
The accused collided with another vehicle at the corner of Arthur Street East and Waterloo Street South when they failed to complete a right-hand turn.
The accused again fled the scene.
Despite having already drove through a red light, police learned the accused had stopped at a green light at Waterloo Street South and Victoria Avenue East for no apparent reason. The motorist then continued and was observed driving erratically.
An officer observed the motorist in the area of Red River Road and Highway 11/17. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the motorist fled into the County Fair Plaza parking lot.
For public safety reasons, the traffic stop was discontinued.
Officers then arrived at the home of the accused, where they located the heavily damaged SUV and the accused exiting the vehicle. The officer observed signs that the motorist was impaired.
The driver was taken into custody and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
