Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the area of Red River and Dawson Roads shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 following reports of a person being chased by an individual with what appeared to be a knife.
Using information provided by the passerby who contacted police about the incident, officers were able to locate a suspect who was in possession of a knife.
Officers then located a female who was with the male at the time of the original incident. An investigation eventually revealed the male had approached a male victim on the walking path near Blucher Avenue and Red River Road.
The man threatened the victim with a knife while the female attempted to take some of the victim’s belongings.
A male who was in the company of the victim intervened, at which point the accused allowed the victim to leave the area with the group of people he was with.
As a result of further investigation, officers arrested and charged both the male and female.
