Police have arrested an impaired driver who fled from officers.
Thunder Bay Police Service Traffic Unit officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Victoria Avenue East on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 25, after receiving reports of a driver that possibly impaired.
The first responding officer located the vehicle and began speaking to the male driver, observing signs of impairment.
The driver started the vehicle and proceeded to drive away at a high rate of speed. Another responding officer observed the vehicle driving in oncoming lanes of traffic to pass other vehicles. Officers did not engage in a pursuit in the interests of public safety.
The vehicle and suspect were later located. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
A 22-year-old male has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Vehicle, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest.
The accused was expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
