Police arrested a Thunder Bay man on numerous charges linked to a July cyber crime investigation.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Cyber Crime Unit became aware of a local Internet user potentially possessing digital files consistent with child exploitation on July 2, 2023.
Further investigation confirmed the digital files were consistent with child pornography. Investigators also identified a local address connected to the downloading of these files.
Police executed a search warrant at a residential address in the Bay and South Water Streets area in the morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 10.
A male suspect was located, arrested, and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
Police seized a number of electronic devices connected to their ongoing investigation.
Justin John MACH, 39, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Possession of Child Pornography
• Accessing Child Pornography
• Distribution of Child Pornography
He appeared in bail court in Thunder Bay on Friday, Aug. 11 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
