The Thunder Bay Police Service began investigating a historical sexual assault case after receiving complaints on Jan. 30, 2019.
A victim had come forward to police and stated they had been assaulted on multiple occasions by an adult male who was in a position of trust and authority over them between the years of 2015 and 2017.
The victim was between the ages of 15 and 18 during these incidents.
Officers made the accused aware of the charges being filed against him on Feb. 2, 2019. The accused then turned himself in to police.
Philip Jason TROTTIER,49, of Thunder Bay, was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault, Sexual Exploitation Touch, Sexual Exploitation Invite Counsel.
He appeared in court and was released with a future court date.
Police are urging anyone who may have been the victim of a sexual assault to contact them at 684-1200.
