Five arrested, $350K in drugs and more than $100,000 in cash seized
Police arrested five suspects, and seized drugs and guns valued at more than $450,000 CAD, following an investigation into drug trafficking activity.
Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit obtained search warrants for residential addresses in the 900 block of Simpson Street and zero-to-100 block of College Street.
Both warrants were obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking at those addresses.
The warrant at the College Street address was executed at about 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, May 10. The warrant at the Simpson Street address was executed at about 7:10 p.m. that same evening.
Five suspects were taken into custody and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
As a result of the College Street home search, police located and seized a loaded handgun, cash, a significant quantity of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, suspected Xanax pills and Oxycodone pills.
As a result of the Simpson Street home search, police located and seized a loaded handgun, an extended magazine, a significant quantity of cocaine and fentanyl, and cash.
The estimated street value of drugs seized totals nearly $370,000. Cash seized totals more than $103,000.

Nicholas BURNETT, 18, of Oakville, Ont., is charged with:

Dwight Eric HANSON, 49, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

All five are expected to appear in bail court in the afternoon of Thursday, May 11.
