Police arrested a Toronto man and Gravenhurst woman Tuesday morning and seized more than half-a-million dollars worth of narcotics and a loaded handgun.
Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit stopped a Jeep in the 500 block of Arthur Street West just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The vehicle was stopped as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity.
Two suspects connected to this investigation were subsequently arrested without incident and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, oxycodone tablets, paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, and a loaded handgun.
Police seized a 2019 Jeep Cherokee as part of this investigation.
The estimated street value of drugs seized totals more than $660,000 CAD.
Chance JEFFERS, 27, of Toronto, is charged with:

• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
• Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
• Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
Hope KINSMAN, 24, of Gravenhurst, Ont., is charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
• Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
Both appeared in bail court in Thunder Bay in the late afternoon hours of Tuesday, Sept. 12 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
