A Gull Bay First Nations man faces charges of accessing and possessing child pornography following an investigation into suspicious content being uploaded online from Thunder Bay.
Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit began an investigation in May after learning images of possible child exploitation were uploaded from a local Internet user in January.
Images reviewed during the investigation found they were consistent with child pornography.
Further investigation led to a local address being identified in the May Street North and Northern Avenue area. A search warrant for that address was executed just after 6:30 a.m. on May 26.
Additional digital files consistent with child pornography were located and seized as evidence during the search.
Electronic devices were also located and seized.
The accused was taken into custody in the morning hours of Friday, May 26.
Anthony Samuel KING, 58, of Gull Bay First Nation, is charged with:
• Accessing Child Pornography
• Possession of Child Pornography
He appeared in bail court on Saturday, May 27 and was released with conditions and a future appearance date.
