On Tuesday June 14th, I gave the Thunder Bay Police Services Board notice of my intent to retire as of June 14, 2023. At that point, I will have completed my 30th year as a Police Officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service.
I wanted to provide the Police Services Board with ample notice regarding my employment contract as Chief of the Thunder Bay Police Service. I am hopeful that my one-year notice will provide adequate time for the Board to initiate a recruitment and succession planning process for my replacement. I remain committed to my role as Chief and will do everything I can to ensure a proper transition takes place with the newly appointed Chief in 2023.
I have been both a witness to and an active part of the history of our Police Service since 1993. Along the way, I have had the privilege of serving with sworn and civilian members who continue to devote their lives to the service of this community.
In my capacity as Chief of Police, I have dedicated myself to organizational change within our Service, in a collaborative, consistent and transparent way. I can say with confidence that the Thunder Bay Police Service will continue to evolve thanks to the people who remain focused on serving and protecting all members of this great community.
